Banner Image

Retro image time.

Taken by my cousin I believe, in Autumn of 1985 in La Crete Alberta, in the parking lot of the EMC Church there.

That is the skinny me, holding a fanbelt that had come off and Lauralea sitting in the car looking between the hood and body of the car, to see when I would say, "Ok, now!" Then she would turn the key a bit, advancing the belt enough for it to move back into it's place. Back then I could do all the engine work with just a flat-head screwdriver.

:)

Those were the days. Just married, I was 140 pounds, and Lauralea sat in the middle of the bench seat, right next to me.

Wonder if there is a direct correlation somewhere in there.

  2. What year was the car? Looks like a gooder? I miss the days when my dad could fix any vehicle with his supreme expertise. These days he is afraid to even change the oil himself if he can even get to the place under the vehicle to be able to do that.

  3. If I'd not known it was you in there I'd have assumed it was the early 70s. I've *nearly* stopped carrying tools in the car... but not quite. However I'm too stiff these days to spend much time leaning into the engine bay or laying underneath fixing things. If I can afford other guys to do it, then I will.

The mantle has passed to Ben however, and he's very happy taking a set of spanners, angle grinder and welding gear to his cars.
