Jet's Jersey

About ten days ago I went into my local McDonald's and there in a plastic case was a Winnipeg Jet's Jersey, number 13 (Selanne's old number I believe).

They are having a draw for it, tomorrow morning. I was mesmerized!! I would LOVE to have just such a shirt.

So, Micah and I had a snack and started filling out entry blanks. There was a stack of entries there so I grabbed a handful and took them home and filled out about 50 of them.

Yesterday I had a coffee appointment at McDonald's, so while I waited, I filled out another 20.

And tonight, after Thomas' band concert, we all went there for Blizzards, and Micah and I filled out another 25.

SO, tomorrow, when they draw my name, I'll have a new Jet's Jersey!!

i hope.

  1. I hope they didn't have a "1 entry per person" rule ;-)

Actually I sympathise. There's a guy called Jo Burt that does a mountain-biking sheep cartoon (called 'mint sauce') that has a big following. A few years back he had some cool riding jerseys made up based on the cartoon, and these occassionally turn up on ebay. I've had to be really disciplined not to spend significant sums of money on a riding top I don't really need.

  2. forget rrrroll up the rrrrim. Who needs Tim's coffee when there's a jersey in McDonald's with Randy's name on it?

  3. Good Luck.

Seriously. I would love to have a Selane Jersey from Winnipeg but I'm sure you'd make better use of it. I remember when he won rooky of the year, if memory serves me, when I was in grade 6. Ah, that takes me back. I'll have to see it some time if it falls into your posession.

  6. I hate to burst your bubble, but my brother-in-law apparently won it. For what it's worth, I didn't even know there was a draw.

  7. I hate to even tell you this, but I filled out ONE entry and today they called me to say that I won the Selanne Jersey! I picked it up on the way home from work and its already hanging in my mini shrine. I was searching the web trying to see how many were made for Mcdonalds and what kind of value this thing has. It does look good, and I hope you get the call!

  8. Well, it's 9:00 pm and there has been no call and no messages left saying that I won anything. Sigh.

But, on a more positive note, there is another Jets fan in Prince Albert?!? You know, I'm willing to look past the whole one entry lucky hoser thing, for a Jets fan any day.

So, we should have a local Jets fan club thing at McKee's Irish Pub sometime.

    You know where I live!

  10. Wow, someone who knows PA! Did you used to live here? Ironically we lived in Winnipeg for about a year and a half about 15 years ago and now Im in PA and your there! Sorry you didint win the jersey, but it is in good hands of a proud Jets fan.

PS I still get ribbed because I refuse to call them Coyotes...once a Jet, always a Jet!

    CHEERS!

  11. OK....so I took one too many pucks in the head...for some reason I thought you were in Winnipeg...guess its all dreams of glory at the old arena..sitting high in the rafters where the air is thin and the site is oft blocked by the steel girders holding the roof on. The old barn is gone now, and all that remains are the tired memories and slipping mind of a Jets fan. I have to go now and look at my Shoppers Drug Mart 1982 -83 team calendar, and perhaps say hello to my Dale Hawerchuk rookie card.

PS sadly, I am also a BLUE BOMBER FAN! There is no hope nor redemption for me!

    CHEERS!!!

  12. Ah yeah, we lived in Winnipeg from 89-98 and I remember going to the 7-11 the day of the game and you could get nosebleed seats for $7.00. So Lauralea and I would go.

Remember Hawerchuck and Thomas Steen, Fredrik Olausson, and Dougie Smail, Dave Ellett and Teppo Numminen, Laurie Boschman, Randy Carlyle, Bob Essensa, Stephane Beauregard and Scott Arniel, Phil Housley, Ed Olczyk.

And I remember the day Domi came to play... brings a tear to my eye.

  13. Well, I wouldn't call him a Jets fan. I believe you might know him. Dean Dynna, who works at the New Way Bible Bookstore.

Maybe you could go over there and make him an offer!! :)

  14. It was Dean?

    Oh brother.

If he doesn't know what a Randy Carlyle is, well I'm gonna have to give hime a piece of my mind!!
