Mentally Challenged Robins

"Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud."

I heard from the washroom this morning.

I looked into the bedroom, over a sleeping Lauralea and there was a Robin trying to fly into her closed window. Repeatedly. Without learning it's lesson.

I walked over and scared it away.

Ten minutes later, "Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud." From the bedroom beside ours.

Again, some Robin flying into the window. Repeatedly. Without learning it's lesson.

I chased it away.

Ten minutes or so later, it was trying the next window. I spent my breakfast time running outside chasing the dumb bird away.

Finally, full of brain damage it seemed to go away.

Till twenty minutes ago, at my office. "Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud."

I got up and walked into the secretaries office and sure enough, some brain dead Robin is trying to fly into the window. Repeatedly. Without learning it's lesson.

I've been chasing it away, but I think it may need more that I could give it.

Either it's one stubborn brain damaged bird or the earth's magnetic poles are screwed up and the end of the world is at hand.

We'll see you tomorrow. Maybe.

  1. Perhaps the bird was inebriated?!! We have that happen every spring when they get their fill of the fermented chokecherries in the park across the street!

There's something about wildlife and windows; we had a deer jump through a window at the nursing home last spring, right into a resident's room while she was in bed. She thought it was her dog "Troy". We called the day "Code Bambi". You have to wonder which department to call for help for "deer in a resident's room" - would that be 9-1-1, the commissionaires, fire department or ??? Luckily there was a cowboy in the hospital parking lot who saw the whole thing and came strolling down the hall with his lasso, dragged the deer down the hall and out the exit and that was that. When I asked the resident what happened the day after the incident, she went into a long drawn out story about her supper and a niece that came to visit and blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda....the deer incident seemed to have slipped her mind. What a wonderful world I work in!!

  3. The same thing happened to us a few years ago. About 5 in the morning a stupid robin would hit a window, sit on the deck railing, poop, hit the next window etc, while spitting on the windows and you know what on the railing. This happened for about 3 years. So I didn't wash the windows, same thing happened, washed the windows, same thing. Since I am deathly afraid of birds, this was frightening to me. Elnice said to pray that God wouldn't send it back to our house, so I did, and he didn't return. I didn't know that he would move to the parsonage and church, like, 8 years later!!
We had a wood pecker that used to try to peck the chimney on our trailer, so I would turn the heat up, and he would go away. That happened for a long time too!!

  4. Funny story. I have a friend who has had a very similar experience. She wrote about it on her blog here: http://ninmoore.blogspot.com/2007/05/to-kill-mockingbirdi-mean-robin.html

I think they finally solved the problem by hang some black netting in front of their window.

    Have fun!

  7. Lost something in translation, did my post...the question marks were musical notes in my world...think Jaws...oh well, win some, lose some.
Have a great day, and I hope that those poor robins have got 'it' out of their systems.
