Actually in my case it was "have you got 2 minutes for a word"? Said a second time at the halfway point too. Ending with "well, it's the last time you'll see me here then"!
Actually, I would venture to say that any statement that starts "I hate to _________, but...", or "I'm not ________, but..." will be just what it claims not to be. One I hear very often is "I'm not racist, but..." and inevitably the statement ends up having racist undertones.
