High's and Lows of weather

Last night I left the office around 11:30 and I was surprised to find it was gently misting out and the temperature in the pluses.

It looks like the balmy weather is only here for a day though. Tomorrow is a high of -12, then Sunday it's to be a high of -20. Sheesh.

You'd think this was Calgary or something.

I'd better get an electrical plug on the car TODAY. Seems like the previous owner had a nasty habit of driving off while the car was still plugged in.

  1. at some time during the winter, I will have to figure out how to open my hood, so I can find the thingy you use to plug in the car.

I have just recently learned how to use the windshiel wipers with confidence.

    Baby steps.............

  3. We've been dipping down to 0 (c) or just under. That means my tomatoes are done -- finally. I also didn't cover some madagascar palms I was trying to grow out of zone -- and I think they're gone, too. We certainly don't have the same level of hardship and inconvenience you all have -- but winter is a pain in the butt -- even in California!

  4. Hmmm. I even cycled to work with a little ice on the floor Thursday Morning. Not quite Canadian issue weather.

But winters are definitely milder now than ever before. It's nothing to you guys, but about 12 years ago we had a hard cold spell, with -5 in the day and -12 at night. It's a big deal when you have a draughty house and wood fires are your only heat source. These days we hardly ever have a frost that lasts all day, although occasionally the fields at the bottom of the valley will flood and freeze, providing a natural skating rink.

  5. This is Monday already, but the funniest thing I saw out our 7th floor office today was a dozen or so Canada geese sitting on the ice in the middle of the river, flapping away, walking this way and that, trying very hard to make a decision whether this should be the day to make their treck to Texas or thereabouts. I figured they had better get going 'cause it's dipping to -28 tonight and all the fields are covered in snow since yesterday's mini blizzard - no grain in the fields to be had, unless of course, they have a snow shovel on hand. I love Saskatchewan!
