Wordpress 2.5

Spent some time tonight installing Wordpress 2.5.

The dashboard changes are significant and much cleaner looking.

Now I have Tags and Categories!

Cool.

  1. Was just looking at the number of comments you have in your spam queue right now - crazy!

Wish there was a way to keep them from getting through to the comments at all.

  2. I never even look at the spam queue, it just shoots the garbage into that space and I never see that stuff.

The problem is that sometimes the spam sneaks through.

  3. I'm still running WP 1.5 or something. I need to do some work on my site, but life is busy lately. I thought 128 spam the other day was bad. The problem is most of my comments go for moderation, not simply blacklisted, so I need to sort through them all. Every time a Sasktel customer restarts their modem they get a new IP and into the moderation their comments go.

I was thinking about contacting you Randall to see if you had the same spam volume problem or if it was just me and my ancient version of WP but now I know.

  4. The question is, is WP 2.5 worth the effort of upgrading? Are there many improvements over 2.3 (or whatever it is I'm at)?

  5. It's hard to say if it's worth it or not. I suppose it depends.

"WordPress 2.5, the culmination of six months of work by the WordPress community, people just like you. The improvements in 2.5 are numerous, and almost entirely a result of your feedback: multi-file uploading, one-click plugin upgrades, built-in galleries, customizable dashboard, salted passwords and cookie encryption, media library, a WYSIWYG that doesn̢۪t mess with your code, concurrent post editing protection, full-screen writing, and search that covers posts and pages."

I'm moderating all the comments these days.
Thanks.
