May all who love this city prosper.
O Jerusalem, may there be peace within your walls
and prosperity in your palaces.
For the sake of my family and friends, I will say,
“May you have peace.”
For the sake of the house of the LORD our God,
I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem.
Psalm 122
We were there just over 48 hours ago.
ReplyDeleteUntil something radically changes, there will be no peace in Israel, sadly, but I'm not at all sure peace is what many people living there really want. There was a quote I read recently, possibly by a king of Jordan, that said "Israel can have either land or peace, but not both" and that's probably true.
Someone in our group observed that both sides were intentionally spiteful to each other.
I'll be blogging the journey starting Sunday. :-)
Yeah thats right, you were heading over there. I agree, I don't think there is peace in the near future in that part of the world. They do antagonize each other a good deal, meanwhile people get caught in between the powers.
DeleteFeel like it would be good to go over there again.
It's interesting how & why we perceive stuff differently. We travelled in a bubble with a group of 30 + local guide, visited the key bible story sites and had a full-on tour, but there was no connection with either the land or people. You went in a small group, stayed locally with natives and had a different set of objectives. I feel we missed out on so much, but have little desire to return - you made connections that will probably last a lifetime.
